The “Balance Snow Wallpaper” by =nxxos is a beautiful example of what a snow wallpaper ought to be. The scene is a rural landscape, evidently just after a snowstorm. The dark clouds that blanketed the landscape with snow are moving off to the right of the picture, and they still cast a darker tint across it. There are also faint wisps of lighter clouds, hanging below them and to the left, and the sun is beginning to make an appearance by brightening the clouds to the upper left. Further out on the horizon, the clouds have broken up, revealing a dark blue sky, almost blue-green.
The trees and grasses in the photo are delicately coated in snow and frost, as is typical just after a storm, or in an early morning after the frost. It’s beautiful how even the smallest of details, each piece of the wild grasses, and the smaller twigs on the trees are coated. If this is not a photograph, then the artist has seen this sort of thing in real life before and their attention to detail is both remarkable and breathtaking. If it is a photo, the artist must have edited the colors to achieve a darker atmosphere for the photo. Doing so does not in any way detract from the photo’s beauty. If anything, it is made more beautiful by that slight change.
The blue-green color of the sky and the darker clouds is reflected in the still water below. The stillness of the water displays the peacefulness of the scene and really accents how the snow covered the rest of the landscape. That too is realistic, for unless it’s a serious snowstorm with gusting winds, snow falls straight down, and does so quietly. If it’s not frozen, the snow would melt into the lake and blanket everything else, just as it appears in this snow wallpaper.
To sum it all up, the colors are rich and accent the scene beautifully. The reflections in the water and the stillness of the water are incredible. I love everything about the image, from the color of the sky to the frost and snow on the trees and grasses to the reflections in the water of its surroundings. I can offer no words of criticism; this is the sort of photo I wish I could capture. This is a perfect example of what a desktop wallpaper should look like.
